We believe students learn maths best when they truly understand what they are doing, rather than memorising procedures without meaning. Wherever possible, tutors help students connect concrete and visual ideas to more abstract concepts.

This approach supports long-term understanding and confidence, whether a student is just beginning their maths journey or preparing for more advanced secondary topics.

Our Tutors

Tutors at Vertex Maths are carefully selected for their kindness, patience, strong maths ability, and love of mathematics. Some are experienced educators, while others are developing tutors, including senior secondary students showing aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching.

All tutors are supported with guidance, mentoring, and feedback to ensure sessions are thoughtful, effective, and tailored to each student.

Leadership and Oversight

Vertex Maths is led by an experienced maths tutor and educator with over ten years of tutoring experience, degrees in mathematics, and formal training in education. The lead tutor also brings broad experience across university research, corporate roles, programming, managing an after-school care service, startup work, and life as a stay-at-home parent. This combination of expertise and practical insight informs how we support tutors and design lessons, helping ensure every session is as effective and valuable as possible.

Working With Families

Families arrange sessions directly with their tutor at convenient times. After each session, payment is made securely, with no upfront commitments. Parents are kept informed about what is covered during lessons and are always welcome to ask questions or provide feedback.
