We believe students learn maths best when they understand what they are doing, rather than memorising steps. Tutors aim to help students connect concrete, visual ideas to more abstract concepts.

This approach builds long-term understanding and confidence, whether a student is just starting out or preparing for more advanced secondary topics.

Our Tutors

Tutors at Vertex Maths are carefully selected for their kindness, patience, strong maths ability, and love of teaching. We work with experienced educators as well as developing tutors, including senior secondary students with a passion for maths and teaching.

All tutors receive ongoing guidance and feedback to ensure sessions are effective and tailored to each student’s needs.

Leadership and Oversight

Vertex Maths is led by an experienced tutor and educator with over ten years of tutoring experience, a background in mathematics, and formal training in education. The lead tutor’s broad experience—from university research and corporate roles to managing an after-school care service and life as a stay-at-home parent—helps inform how we design lessons and support our tutors.

Working With Families

Families arrange sessions directly with their tutor at convenient times. After each lesson, payment is securely processed, with no upfront commitments. Parents are kept informed about what’s covered during lessons and are always welcome to provide feedback or ask questions.

Our goal is to make maths tutoring accessible, transparent, and supportive—for students, families, and tutors alike.
